Hello,
I have some great memories of the whole Second Coming. In the 60's I lived in Bradenton Fl and played in a blues band with with a harp player named Dave "Rock Bottom" York. All of these guys hung and played around the area alot. Seen and played with them many times. I used to buy my strings at Larry Reinhart's father's store off Manatee Ave in Bradenton. The Second Coming and The Load were well loved during those days, I sure miss them. Thanks.

I was Stationed in Mayport from '68 thru '70. My first weekend there I went to the Jax beach coliseum and immediately fell in love with The Second Coming (think Dale had a lot to do with it at first). Ended up seeing them probably 15 times over the next six months. Went to gigs there, several at the Forest Inn, the Cedar Hills Armory a place in St. Augustine & somewhere north of Jax whose name I've forgotten totally. Like you, the first time I saw Duane I was like who is this guy? Didn't take long to be blown away though. After they dissolved to form a new band I lost track of them & my ship was sent to the Med for 7 months. I was home on leave at a friend's party & he put on Idlewild South. I really wasn't paying close attention till he flipped it over and I heard Berry Oakley's unmistakable bass rift starting up Hootchie Cootchie man. Man was I stoked. Great memories. I also remember one of those Sunday sessions at the Forest Inn when Dickie, Duane, & a host of players were doing acoustic and went through all kinds of blues standards ( including a bunch of Blind Willie McTell who Dickie seemed to know a whole lot about) . It was so laid back. I don't think I appreciated at the time how awesome it was. Always felt it was one of the luckiest things that could have happened.
