A 16-year-old student and protégé of Jacksonville high school teacher/songwriter Mae Axton, this former Murray Hill Theatre ticket taker had one single in the early 1960s on Hilliard-based Davco Records, along with a very short-lived career in Vegas. Also see Axton, Mae.
Was cashier at Murry Hill Theatre with Merlene; friend of hers and her sister Sandra; went to Paxon School with her; went to Mae Axton’s house with her when Mae’s son heard Merlene sing and told his mom how good she was; went to studios for her to entertain on one of TV’s first country music programs before Hee Haw) can’t remember name; just curious and trying to get in touch with her after 50 years.
