Laura Minor – This Tallahassee native, who has also lived in Jacksonville, was earning a doctoral degree at UF in Gainesville when she ran into Jared Flamm from rock band Noah’s Red Tattoo. She showed Flamm some of her poetry; he insisted they write songs together. A demo led to a deal with Oakland, Calif.’s Hightone Records. Her debut album, Salesman’s Girl, was recorded in New York with members from NRT and was released in July 2002 to critical acclaim.
