Born Marthaniel Roberts, a Jacksonville native and graduate of Florida State, Marcus Roberts is considered to be one of the most important pianists in jazz today. Before getting signed to RCA’s jazz label, Novus, in 1988, he was a member of Wynton Marsalis’s band. Currently signed to Columbia.
